Used to walk here with my mother( Averil Thorpe) once a week and have a coke and packet of crisps or walk over the fields to a pub in Ockbrook (can’t remember the name of the pub) in the summer

Thanks for your memories Rachael. Alas the Yarn Spinner is no more! It was demolished and residential properties now occupy the site. And there are four pubs in Ockbrook but it would probably be the Royal Oak at a guess that you visited. Still a lovely walk over the fields from Spondon. Best wishes, Paul Walpole, SHS Archivist

Had my first pint there bought in the off sales because I was only 14. The landlord gave me a half pint and said "thats all you are getting"
Later dated the landlords Daughter
