Falcon's Nest

This house was located on the south side of Nottingham Road, east of former the Bemrose Corporation's Spondon printing works. The stone tablet above front door read 'The Falcons Nest' and the one above the back door read 'AD 1901'. Demolished in 1993. Information courtesy of Ed Buckley April 2026. Stone tablet above front door read "The Falcons Nest," The one above the back door read "AD 1901" home to the Ward family from 1910 to the 1950's when Miss Ward the daughter died, She left the house to Issac Thomas Thompson who was the live in gardener, He was also the caretaker of the primary school in Borrowash until he died in around 1963, He left the house and grounds to my mother Mrs Ada Annie Shardlow who had lived their since 1950 as the housekeeper. Mrs Shardlow sold the house to Bemrose Ltd in 1967. They let it out to the Roome family who previously lived at No 145 until the late 1980's. 141 Derby Road the Falcons Nest was demolished in 1993. When it was built it included a stable block, a pig sty, an outside wash house a walled garden and a 5 acre field.
