The committee and members of the Old Folks Society assembled at the official opening of their new 'Retreat' (meeting room) in the grounds of the new village hall. This was also reported in the Derby Evening Telegraph of Friday 3rd October 1952 together with a different photo including local officials and Spondon vicar, the Rev T.E.M. Barber.
