Co-op Butcher's Award

Framed & glazed certificate size 14"x21" awarded by the D.C.S (Derby Co-operative Society) to their Spondon Butchery Department in 1952. This was discovered in the cellar of the old Co-op shop in Chapel Street during the time that the shop was owned by Malcom Woodward who ran it as a Video Tape rental for eight years. This was after Lennox Brothers had previously run ran it as general store for many years. The item was rescued by Mr Woodward and kindly donated it to the Historical Society (July 2021). The building is currently an Indian restaurant.
